Identity. Melanotan-2 is the cyclic lactam alpha-MSH analogue Ac-Nle-c[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-NH2 (mass near 1024 Da). In research (medical). It is a potent non-selective melanocortin agonist (MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, etc.) used in pigmentation and behavioural neuroscience models. Not FDA-approved; adverse-effect literature exists for unregulated human use -- irrelevant to RUO supply but relevant as a safety caveat in reviews. In plain English. Labs use Melanotan-2 to turn on several melanocortin receptors at once when studying pigment and brain-pathway models. Not an approved drug. Sold for laboratory research only -- not for human use.
Format and handling
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial. Recommended storage is −20 °C. Materials should be handled only by trained laboratory personnel using appropriate personal protective equipment.
