What it is

This listing uses the catalog name TB-500. That name does not, by itself, choose between full-length thymosin beta-4 and a short synthetic fragment. Both appear under the same label in research catalogs.

Structure and sequence

Thymosin beta-4, when that is the molecule, is the 43-residue acetylated peptide Ac-SDKPDMAEIEKFDKSKLKKTETQEKNPLPSKETIEQEKQAGES. A heptapeptide built on LKKTETQ is a different chemical entity. The lot sequence has to match the certificate.

Molecular weight

Full-length thymosin beta-4 is near 4963 Da. A short LKKTETQ fragment is much smaller. The certificate of analysis reports the mass for the lot.

What published research models study

Goldstein and colleagues reviewed thymosin beta-4 as an actin-binding peptide in 2012 (PMID 22074294). That review is about the 43-residue peptide, not an automatic description of every vial labeled TB-500.

Storage and handling

Supplied as a lyophilized solid in a sealed vial unless the catalog row states another format. Recommended storage is −20 °C. Trained laboratory personnel should handle the vial with appropriate personal protective equipment. Identity, purity, salt form, and lot-specific notes belong on the certificate of analysis, which is available on request.
