Identity. Melanotan-1 is afamelanotide, Ac-[Nle4,D-Phe7]-alpha-MSH, a linear melanocortin receptor agonist analogue. In research (medical). It activates MC1R (and related melanocortin receptors) driving eumelanin pathways; an approved implant (Scenesse) uses afamelanotide for erythropoietic protoporphyria in some regions. This listing is research peptide, not that finished implant product. In plain English. Researchers study this engineered tanning-hormone lookalike for pigment-cell signalling. An approved implant shares the chemistry for a rare light-sensitivity disease; vials here are for the bench. Sold for laboratory research only -- not for human use.
